BIRTHDAYS
We love celebrating birthdays at Montessori on 1st. 
Parents are welcome to arrange a small celebration for their child. Please ensure:
  • Treats are simple and easy to distribute. – Keep in mind children with allergies e.g. Nuts 
  • Items are individually packed where possible. 
  • Prior arrangements are made with the teacher.
We encourage meaningful celebrations that allow children to feel special while maintaining the calm classroom environment.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the year, the school hosts a variety of special events and themed days which may include:
  • Mother & Fathers Day 
  • Water fun Days 
  • Grandparents Day 
  • Dress-up days 
  • Heritage celebrations 
  • Seasonal events such as Easter or festive activities 
  • School Concert
Parents will be informed in advance of upcoming events via official communication channels.

SCHOOL HATS
School hats are provided and form part of our sun protection policy. 
Children are required to wear their school hats during outdoor play. 
“No Hat, No Play” may apply during sunny conditions to ensure children’s safety.

EDUCATIONAL VISITORS
From time to time, educational visitors and external providers may visit the school to enrich the children’s learning experience. These may include:
  • Extramural instructors 
  • Educational facilitators 
  • Developmental programmes
Parents will be informed when applicable.

FOOD & NUTRITION 
  • Breakfast is not provided; parents may send cereal and the school provides milk. 
  • Parents provide a healthy mid-morning snack with water or diluted juice. 
  • A water cooler is available for children throughout the day. 
  • Cooked lunch provided. 
  • Afternoon snack provided for full-day children.
MEDICAL FEES
The school arranges annual hearing and speech screenings for children. 
  • These screenings are conducted by qualified professionals.
  • The cost of these annual screenings is covered by the school. 
Parents will be informed of the screening dates and outcomes where relevant.

DISCIPLINE
At Montessori on 1st, discipline is approached with respect, consistency, and understanding. 
Our approach focuses on:
  • Positive guidance
  • Encouraging independence and responsibility
  • Supporting emotional regulation
  • Teaching respectful behavior 
We aim to guide children through understanding rather than punishment, maintaining a calm and nurturing environment.

  • Half Day with Lunch 
  • Three Quarter Day 
  • Full Day
SCHOOL FEES
Fees are payable monthly in advance 
Fees are payable 12 months of the year 
Discounts may apply for siblings and upfront payments   

Half Day (7:00 – 1:30) – R3,690 
Three-Quarter Day (7:00 – 3:30) – R4,010 
Full Day (7:00 – 5:00) – R4,345

NOTICE PERIOD
  • One full calendar month’s written notice is required

HEALTH & SAFETY
  • Sick children must remain at home. 
  • Medical conditions and allergies must be disclosed. 
  • Medication handed directly to staff with parent sign-off.
DROP-OFF AND COLLECTION
  • Children are handed directly to staff 
  • Children are released only to authorised persons.
SCHOOL OPERATION HOURS
  • Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 17:00 
  • Latest drop-off: 08:20
